Israel Bans Use of Quranic Verses in Social Networking Sites
The daily Yedioth Ahronoth disclosed a secret document based on which the regime’s Arab citizens will be punished if they use Quranic verses or the word Shahid (martyr) in their social media posts.
The office of the regime’s prosecutor general has prepared a document on launching investigations and bringing criminal charges against Arab citizens who have posted such content, the newspaper added.
Simcha Rotman, the head of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee, has claimed that since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip, the general prosecutor has failed to prosecute those who have caused provocations, including those citing verses from the Quran.
He threatened that the committee will make a decision about criminalizing the posting of such contents.
The crackdown on language used by Palestinian citizens of Israel contrasts with incitement by high-ranking Israeli officials.
