BEIRUT (IQNA) – The deputy secretary general of the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement underscored support for the resistance front among people in Muslim countries.

Hezbollah deputy chief Sheikh Naim Qassem

Speaking in an interview with the International Quran News Agency, Sheikh Naim Qassem said people in Arab and Muslim countries are opposed to normalization of ties with Israel and back the resistance.

This is because they consider resistance against the occupation regime to be legitimate, he stated.

Sheikh Qassem added that confronting the Zionist regime’s plots is possible only through resistance.

Laying emphasis on resistance will lead to a great development in the region, he stressed.

The senior Hezbollah official further described the issue of Palestine and the Palestinian cause as the first manifestation of unity in the Muslim world.

“Palestine has been occupied and the Zionist occupiers have also targeted the Arab and Muslim world. Hence we (should) unite against the common enemy.”

There is no other choice for Muslims than making this common enemy understand that Muslim stand together and are united against it, he went on to say.

Underlining the role of Muslim scholars in strengthening unity, Sheikh Qassem added that through unity and support for the axis of resistance, Muslims can foil the normalization plots and their consequences.

He noted that normalization bids are pursued not by Muslim nations but by certain rulers who are not true representative of their people.

Sheikh Qassem went on to stress that resistance against the Israeli regime is popular and legitimate and that emphasizing resistance will bring about new developments in the region.
