TEHRAN (IQNA) – An official with Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization said holding a Quran competition for veteran Quran activists is under consideration.

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, head of the organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, told IQNA that if approved, the contest will be held for Quran memorizers and reciters above the age of 35.

He also referred to preparations for next year’s national Quran competition, saying that registration for those willing to take part in the contest will begin in May.

He said that the maximum age limit for the participants in the Quranic event has been 40 but the organizers have lowered the maximum age to 35.

Every year, hundreds of Quran competitions and Quranic programs are held in the Islamic Republic of Iran at different levels and for different age group.

The 39th edition of the country’s national Quran competition was held in the northern province of Gilan in October.
