TEHRAN (IQNA) – The head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) met and held talks with the visiting Qatari culture minister to discuss ways for enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour held a meeting on Wednesday in Tehran with Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani at ICRO’s headquarters.

Lauding the minister’s proper understanding of Iran, Imanipour hoped that the visit can bring about good results.

He also praised Iran’s entry into Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding last year, hoping that this trend could continue in the future.

“We have carried out many cultural dialogues across the world and today, we hope that Qatar could act as a gateway for increasing cultural relations between Iran and the Arab world,” he said.

He also pointed to his recent visit to Al-Jazeera’s office in Tehran to condole the martyrdom of Shireen Abu Akleh, hailing the efforts of the TV channel in covering Israeli crimes.

The Qatari minister arrived in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Tuesday. The visit is aimed at boosting relations in cultural, artistic, educational, and media fields.
