UN Envoy Meets with Ayatollah Sistani
TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq met with the country’s top Shia cleric Ayatollah Seyed Ali al-Sistani.
Jeanine Antoinette Hennis-Plasschaert arrived in the holy city of Najaf and held talks with Ayatollah Sistani on Sunday, al-Forat News reported.
It was her first meeting with the senior cleric since the outbreak of the coronavirus.
The two last met in November 2019 to discuss the developments in Iraq.
