TEHRAN (IQNA) – Registration for Iran’s 42nd national Quran competition is underway and will continue until April 30, an official said.

Hojay-ol-Islam Ali Moghanni, head of the competitions foundation of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, told IQNA that the deadline for registration had been April 9 but it was extended after offices in some provinces called for an extension.

He added that the first stage of the competition will begin shortly after the holy month of Ramadan (ends on June 5).

Iran’s national Quran competition is annually held with the participation of top Quran activists from across the country.

It is aimed at discovering Quranic talents and promoting Quranic activities in society.

Last year, the central city of Arak hosted the 41nd edition of the contest in October.
